IKW , the German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (Industrieverband Körperpflege- und Waschmittel), is supporting and co-ordinating the participation of German companies of the beauty and body care sector in international fairs and exhibitions. Among others, IKW is supporting and chairing the GERMAN VILLAGE at Cosmoprof 2009 in Bologna/Italy.
 
Located in Frankfurt/Main, the main business hub of Germany, IKW is the respective national industry and trade association of manufacturers and distributors of cosmetic, toiletry, perfumery, detergents, household cleaning and maintenance products. In 2004 this industry did represent in Germany a sales volume of 20 billion EUR at retail sales prices.
 
The 350 member companies of IKW, representing about 500 companies, account for over 95 percent of its industry. All well-known big global players of the beauty and body care industry operating in Germany are members of IKW. The majority of the 350 members are small and medium-size manufacturers and distributors offering attractive products made in Germany.
 
Covering a sales volume of 12 billion EUR for beauty and personal care products in 2007, Germany continues to hold 3rd position in size at world market level behind the USA and Japan. Germany is the biggest national market in Europe followed by France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Russia.
